Craving Salty Snacks?

Peggy's Premium EdamameIf you find yourself craving salty snacks like chips or crackers, try out this easy, tasty treat instead.

Peggy’s Premium Edamame

One box, which you can find at Costco, comes with 12 individually wrapped containers that you stick in the microwave for 2.5 minutes (I know the box says 3 but I like them a little al dente), sprinkle with some sea salt and you have perfectly steamed edamame and the perfect healthy salty snack. If you eat the entire container it’s only about 150 calories, but there’s enough in there to share with a friend too.

Edamame with Sea Salt

Besides just some good snacking, edamame (soy beans) offers some great health benefits as well. That little bean holds all the amino acids to make up a complete protein, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids which are good for your heart, as well as essential nutrients such as iron, folate, and isoflavones (which have been proven to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol).

So, next time you are hankering for some chips grab yourself one of these edamame containers instead, top it with sea salt and enjoy!

Great article. There’s a lot of good information here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Fedora with the circulating beta of Firefox, and the layout of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn’t function so well.
